Hillclimb
A diverse range of cars, from "old" mini to Formula 1 can be raced, up a tarmac alpine hill as fast as possible from a standing start to a flying finish with speeds exceeding 150 mph possible on some sections. Hill races, whether 2km or 8 km long, are often won by 100th's of a second and the right choice of tyre is crucial as the tracks are steep and often close to mountain edges. Avon is the most successful and most prolific supplier, having developed super soft tyres for most applications.
